Social Ride-out June 2019

Assembling at Eccy @ 9 for a 9-30 start Roger Leath as lead rider John Hampton(Yam) as tail end we were  joined by Guy Hodgkinson, Dave Hall & Gary Chantry.

Having let the equally small graded group go first led by Edward we turned left out of the fire stn. and headed for Whitchurch via

Loggerheads,Woore & Audlem. Through the centre of Whitchurch to save the slog round the bypass its on towards the A483 @ Ruabon through Hanmer & Overton whre we turn north along the dual carriageway for three junctions and left onto A525 through Coedpoeth & Minera

to our first breakfast stop at Llandegla Trout Fishery & café.

Brews and breakfast finished its back out onto A525 & A5104 for the run towards Corwen,a lovelly open road constrained by average speed cameras!! At Clawdd Poncen a short cut through onto A494 to Ruthin. We'd not not seen any rain yet although looking at clouds it was only a matter of time, anyway left in Ruthin towards Cerrigydrudion along the lovelly flowing B5105.Right in Cerrig. for the short run up to Llyn Brenig visitor centre for lunch stop.

Fed and watered and having waited for the rain to abate a little we returned back to Cerrig to pick up the A5 south to take the B4501 over the top past FOEL GOCH to Frongoch and Bala where we cruised up the town to refuel Yam's trusty steed.

Retrace the cruise back through the town its a right turn for a familiar run back over the top and the Berwyn Range to LLynclys crossroads and on towards Knockin, the next thought is it going to be Dinkies Diner or Sleap for a final cuppa and chinwag.  Decision made - Nesscliffe services it is then (Subway & Costa) !!

Final leg now, its through Montford Bridge and around the north of Shrewsbury via Leaton to come out at battlefield island (A53/A49) and on down the to pick up our familiar B road home, where we bid a farewell to Yam who continues on to pick up M54

Four of us left now to run the final leg home via Crudgington and Newport . Do we need Tail End?   Nah!

Back at Eccy its a short natter and we all wend our way home,   180 miles later.

What a great day out!!

Beats DIY!!
